About Living Word Apostolic Church and our History/Staff Personnel
Living Word Apostolic Church was founded by our Pastor, Suffragan Bishop Robert K. Buckner, Sr. in the year of 1987. We started in a movie theatre, located 7740 Olive Blvd., in University City, MO. Of course, we started with very humble beginnings, just the Pastor and his family and a few others. But a year later, the Living Word Apostolic Church grew by leaps and bounds. And after two years, the Church had 150 members, 3 Assistant Pastors, 14 active auxiliaries and other Church ministries. However, this rapid growth was stunted and the Church has gone through many changes. We moved from that facility to another building in University City. Afterward we were able to purchase a new Church site located 590 North Hills Dr. in Normandy, MO. Eventually we left that site and purchased the building we now worship in at 9108 Lackland Rd. Overland, MO 63114. We are very pleased to call this location home and it is our plan to use this location as our friendly, little Church community, where we plan to offer spiritual and natural services to the St. Louis Community and the world.
Our Church is focused on ministering to the spiritual needs of the human family. For this is what God has called us to do. It is only the Church that can provide these services and God has made it that way. But we also believe in the words of Jesus when He said, “these things you should have done and not left the others undone”. With that said, we believe that we have an obligation to also minister to the natural needs of those, who are in need. And so, our Church has served the communities in which we live for years, offering drug and violence prevention, alternative cultural and recreational opportunities for youth. Teen Pregnancy prevention programming, jobs training and mentoring.
We are pleased to engage in a holistic approach to the saving of souls.
